What Makes Entrepreneurs Tick?
Tenet Group

HR Strategy Development
Business Need
Over the years Tenet Group had successfully grown from a handful of employees to a £100m+ turnover business with over 300 staff across multiple sites. A combination of organic growth and strategic acquisitions meant the business had outgrown its old HR systems and was in urgent need of a long term HR strategy to support its further ambitions for growth.
Andrum Solution
Andrum started by carrying out research to establish the business and individual requirements of the staff, systems and the HR function, including interviews, data analysis and reviews. Building on what was already in place, Andrum developed a comprehensive 3 year human resources strategy covering everything from skills development to recruitment, performance management to employee relations and HR structure/support to policy audit.
Outcomes
Andrum delivered a comprehensive 3 year plan to the HR Director and Board, designed to support the achievement of the overall business objectives and future proof the whole organisation. As a result the HR team understood the direction and expectations of the department and how they could work with staff to raise organisational effectiveness and efficiency. On top of that the whole Board understood what the role of HR was in delivering the business and had a clear expectation of how that could be achieved.
Acquisition Integration
Business Need
As part of their ongoing growth strategy Tenet Group had succeeded in acquiring an ailing competitor in a deal which took less than two weeks. With the deal having moved so fast, and needing to integrate the new business into existing operations as quickly as possible, Tenet decided it needed some outside help to achieve its objective.
Andrum Solution
Having had experience of this sort of situation before Andrum stepped in to help scope out the requirements and quickly put dedicated planning and project management resource on the ground. Andrum identified and prioritised the key workstreams, objectives and the resource required and then made sure the project was driven forward on a daily basis.
Outcome
Through facilitating close team work across all the internal business functions, Andrum helped Tenet to hit all the key three month post acquisition objectives - resulting in 90% staff retention; fully integrated operations and systems; the successful closure of excess office space; and project delivery within budget.
Strategy Development
Business Need
A successful business like Tenet Group (£100m+ turnover and 300+ staff) wasn’t short of good ideas. However, recent growth across multiple sites had generated a plethora of projects. In order to ensure the Board could maintain focus on the key objectives for the business, the directors decided a fresh look at their strategic priorities was needed.
Andrum Solution
Andrum started by spending one to one time with the Directors and senior management to identify what was really going on. This quick analysis revealed over 50 different business development projects in progress throughout the organisation, many of which not all directors were even aware of and were taking valuable resource away from other priorities. Andrum therefore facilitated a short sharp strategy review programme which included awaydays, board meetings and one to ones.
Outcome
A reduction in business development ‘priorities’ from 57 to 6, with clear accountabilities for each. Andrum also facilitated a cost benefit analysis for each initiative to help with further prioritisation and this strategy review framework has since become a regular part of the business planning process.
